Cookie Policy

How this website uses cookies and browser storage. In short: no ads and no advertising cookies. We use Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site, and in the EU, UK and Switzerland only if you agree. Everything else is a few small settings that remember your choices, like your theme and language.

The short version

This website uses no advertising cookies. The only cookies it sets come from Google Analytics, which tells us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us, so we can improve the site. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, Analytics only starts if you press Accept on the banner. Everywhere else it's on unless you turn it off below.

It does save a few small settings in your browser's local storage, only so the site remembers choices you made. They stay on your device and are never sent to us.

What we store in your browser

NameWhat it doesHow long
wa-lookRemembers the colour theme and font you picked with the "Customize this page" button.Until you reset it or clear your browser data
wa-look-seenRemembers that you've already seen the "Try your own colors" hint, so it only shows once.Until you clear your browser data
wa-langRemembers the language you picked from the language menu, so the site opens in it on your next visit. Without it, the site uses your browser's language.Until you pick another language, reset it or clear your browser data
wa-consentRemembers whether you allowed Google Analytics, so you aren't asked again.Until you change your choice or clear your browser data

These are strictly for features you use, so they don't need consent under EU or UK rules. You can remove them at any time:

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics (Google LLC) to count visits and see which pages are read, how visitors found the site (for example, a search or a link), roughly where they are (country and city, worked out from the IP address, which Google Analytics doesn't store), which device and browser they use, and whether they sent our contact form or booked a call. It never receives what you type into our forms, such as your name, email address or message.

Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off, so this data isn't used for advertising, and we don't combine it with anything else we know about you. Google deletes it after 14 months.

_ga_<id>Keeps track of the current visit.2 years

Your choice. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, these cookies are only set after you press Accept on the banner. Everywhere else, Analytics is on unless you turn it off here, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. You can change your mind at any time:

Third-party services

  • Google Fonts supplies the fonts. When your browser loads them, Google receives your IP address. Google says it doesn't set cookies for Google Fonts. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics sets the cookies described above, when it's allowed. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Our website host receives standard technical information to deliver the pages.
  • Links to other sites, such as Unsplash or Instagram, take you to websites that may set their own cookies under their own policies.

How to control storage

You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings, usually under Privacy or Site data. The site works fine without them: your theme and language choices simply won't be remembered. Blocking cookies also stops Google Analytics.

Changes

If we add other tools that use cookies, we'll update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
